The Past: Nostalgia or Sorrow

Many of us occasionally relive the past, enjoying the sense of nostalgia. However, it can also bring to mind sentiments of pain and sorrow. Reflecting on and identifying the joyful events that you have experienced develops a healthy sense of appreciation and gratitude. Occasionally, we drift to those memories that are negative and extremely painful. When that happens, it is important to avoid dwelling on the experience, reliving the event, or wallowing in the old pain. Doing so activates creative thoughts that will manifest similar experiences in your life. It is normal for old wounds to pop up from time to time. The key is to let them go, put them out of your thoughts. Failing to do so will create additional unwanted pain and sorrow in your life.

Knowing what went wrong allows for avoiding making the same mistakes again. The past is finished, and life is always flowing forward via change. It is important to maintain a healthy attitude, meaning it is good to be penitent about previous wrongs you may have committed or regrets for having lost opportunities. But it is critical to avoid dwelling on any negative emotions resulting from these experiences. Chronic focusing on negative emotions results in a continuation of negative events. Therefore, you must continue to move forward daily in a positive manner.

Creation and life are not static; creation is constantly moving forward through change. You must adjust your mindset to go with the flow of life. Your ability to focus your thoughts and to remain aware of your life’s desires is creation via willful intent.

Your Present Reality

It is healthy to learn from our past, and unhealthy to focus your thoughts and emotions on it. Reliving painful and negative emotions serves to fuel the fire of creating similar experiences in your present reality. When looking back on your past, try to focus on the positive instructional aspect of your prior attitude and actions. Direct your thoughts on the shedding of any anxiety of gloom and doom. Your present reality, your life is better served by positive planning for the future in a conscious manner.

The past is simply a memory, and nothing will change what occurred. Your future is only a potential that exists within your imagination. However, your present day is where you live and experience life. The future is continuously forming itself into the now.

What you believe, think, feel, and do today creates your tomorrow, and the future instantly becomes your past. While the past is but a memory, some folks allow themselves to be held hostage. They hold on to the pain and emotions, the need to feel validation, and the insistence on placing blame on others. They feel victimized and dwell on the emotions and the belief that they are victims

Letting Go

Letting go requires you to tap your inner strength, focus your thoughts positively on your daily events, with emphasis on your future of an improved life. Refuse to dwell on the false belief that you are a victim or unworthy. Living life with these false beliefs will keep you in that reality. Allow reflection to discover what you need to learn from your past experiences. Remember, your today creates your tomorrow. And that you are a physical manifestation of God expressing itself through all that you are.
